They were cult in the 1990s, now they are returning: With “Power Rangers: Once & Always” the original stars celebrate a reunion on Netflix and have to save the world again.

It’s been about 30 years since the first season of “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” started. Because of (or despite) its cool-trashy charm, the series quickly became a mega-success with numerous offshoots and films, especially among teenagers. It’s not for nothing that the franchise still has one to this day cult status – especially among those who grew up in the 1990s.

And it is exactly these fans who can look forward to it now. Because on April 19th Netflix will start “Power Rangers: Once & Always” a new film from the universe – and they are there Stars from the original series.

If you look at the trailer (see above), it quickly becomes clear: More nostalgia is not possible! Power Rangers: Once & Always seems to capture the charm of the original series perfectly. Whether it’s the completely over the top battle sequences, the weird costumes or the trashy effects: all “Power Ranger” fans should get their money’s worth here.

And then, of course, there’s a reunion with some of the original stars in Power Rangers: Once & Always. So are Walter Jones as Zack Taylor/Black Ranger and David Yost as Billy Cranston/Blue Ranger), as well as Catherine Sutherland as Katherine Hillard/Pinker Ranger and Steve Cardenas as Rocky DeSantos/Red Ranger. Austin St. John (Jason Lee Scott/Red Ranger), Thuy Trang (Trini Kwan/Yellow Ranger), Amy Jo Johnson (Kimberly Hart/Pinker Ranger), Johnny Yong Bosch (Adam Park/Black Ranger), Karan Ashley (Aisha Campbell /Yellow Ranger) and Jason David Frank (Tommy Oliver/Green and White Ranger) are unfortunately not included. The latter only died in November 2022 at the age of only 49.

There are also details about the plot. Netflix has released the following synopsis: “Thirty years have passed since the wise Zordon created the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Now the team faces a familiar threat and must step in once again in the midst of a global crisis to save the… save the world. This franchise’s 30th anniversary special is based on the legendary saying ‘Once a Ranger, always a Ranger’: once you’re a part of the Power Rangers family, you’re always welcome.”

From May 19, fans will see whether the original stars of the “Power Rangers” series still have it. Then “Power Ranger: Once & Always” starts on Netflix.
