Ex-Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson has been with Amazon for years, hitting the streets with James May and Richard Hammond alongside his farming show. But after a tirade against Meghan Markle, he was fired from Amazon.

The Grand Tour and Clarksons Farm were and are two particularly successful Amazon Prime Video productions, but their star Jeremy Clarkson is not only active on the video service. He also has a column in the British tabloid The Sun, in which he repeatedly causes a stir and, for example, once insulted Greta Thunberg as an idiot.

Most recently, however, Clarkson himself spanned the arc of the British public, which is more than used to the bawdy boulevard. The 62-year-old presenter wrote that he hates Meghan Markle, wife of Prince Harry, and wishes that she, like Game of Thrones character Cersei, would be paraded naked through the streets and pelted with faeces while those present ” shout shame.

Amazon does not renew contracts

The British public was appalled. Even those not siding with Markle felt that Clarkson went way too far here. And that also has consequences: Because how Variety reports, the streaming service has decided internally that it will not extend its collaboration with Clarkson. However, it will be a while before we see anything new from Clarkson, as programs that have already been filmed and commissioned are scheduled to be completed and aired as planned. Specifically, this means a third season of Clarkson’s Farm, which is planned for 2024 and a total of four specials from The Grand Tour.

Clarkson has apologized multiple times for the column, writing on Instagram this Monday: “I’m really sorry. From the balls of my feet to the follicles on my head. This is me holding my hands up. It’s a mea Culpa with congratulations.”
