Hawkings joined the band in 1997, which was formed by former Nirvana member Dave Grohl.

He and his colleagues now write in their emotional post: “As we say goodbye to the most difficult and tragic year our band has ever experienced, we are reminded of how grateful we are for the people we love and value most , and for loved ones who are no longer with us.”

According to the Foo Fighters, they would never have become the band we know today without their late friend and companion. It remains to be seen when the musicians want to be on stage again and whether new music will be planned without Hawkins.

In April, the Foo Fighters were honored with three more Grammy Awards, including Hawkins posthumously. The band already has a total of 15 of the coveted music trophies. More than any other for a rock album.
