Lionel Messi crowned his incredible career by winning the world title in Qatar. At club level, what is possibly the best footballer of all time has been winning everything for years. Four Champions League titles, ten Spanish championships and seven cup victories speak for themselves.
With the national team, however, things simply did not work out for decades. That was also due to Messi, who often couldn’t call up his usual level in Argentina’s jersey. But under the new coach Lionel Scaloni, they finally won the Copa America in 2021. And now came the greatest title of all, that of World Champion.

Argentina’s victory therefore has historical dimensions for many football fans. In Qatar, Messi went from unfinished to GOAT, the Greatest of All Time, was the unanimous opinion. Clearly, many Argentinian fans can’t get enough insight into how this triumph came about.
Journalist reveals plan with Messi room
They should get this opportunity soon. At least if you can trust sports journalist Achraf Ben Ayad, who surprisingly announced on Twitter: “The room where Leo Messi stayed at the University of Qatar during the World Cup will be turned into a small museum.”
Exactly what that means is not yet known. However, it can be assumed that visitors will be able to see how Messi spent the time between games.
Student residence instead of a luxury hotel
The district of the Albiceleste is definitely unusual. Unlike most other teams, Argentina decided not to stay in one of Qatar’s numerous luxury hotels and moved into comparatively modest accommodation in the student accommodation at Quatar University.
“We have visited the campus several times and chose it because it not only has great facilities but also offers an outdoor space for asados”quoted Daily Mail a representative of the Argentine Football Federation.
Asados is a traditional Argentinian barbecue that is all about good food and being together. “It’s very important for the players and for Argentines in general. It’s part of our culture,” explained the federation representative. The article in the British newspaper also contains some photos of the Argentine World Cup accommodation.
The football world hasn’t looked at Erling Haaland for quite a while. The exceptional talent did not start at the World Cup in Qatar because his country Norway had not qualified. But the desert tournament is now over and the ball is rolling again in the English Premier League.
