Several cases of fraud by fake police officers have occupied Vorarlberg in recent weeks. Another one came on Saturday.

On Saturday around 8 p.m., a still unknown perpetrator called a 58-year-old man from the lowlands and pretended to be a police commissioner.

Password and red backpack

The wrong commissioner then asked the 58-year-old whether he had any valuables at home. He stated that he owned several coin collections. After a password was made up, another unknown perpetrator went to the man’s home address and gave the made up password.

After the perpetrator was allowed into the apartment, he photographed the coin collection and asked the 58-year-old to pack the coin collection in a red backpack. The perpetrator then left the apartment with the coin collection of 3,000 euros.
