“-He is responsible for- participating in an international conspiracy to manufacture and distribute cocaine, knowingly and with the intention that the drugs would be illegally imported into the United States,” reads the text revealed by Judge Irizarry.

According to the versions, the admission of guilt of the former head of the Gulf clan will be so that, among other things, he does not have to appear before a oral trial and avoid that your possible conviction of 60 years, for drug trafficking, will be established in the coming months.

According to the document, the penalty could be a minimum of 20 years and a maximum of life imprisonment, so it is expected that another of the reasons that would lead the drug trafficker to make that decision is to reduce his stay in jail. In his statement, Otoniel will acknowledge that “knowingly and deliberately joined, conspired, associated and agreed with persons possessing with the intent to distribute a controlled substance on board a vessel subject to the jurisdiction of the United States”, the text says.
