The Mexico City International Airport (AICM) has placed restrictions, but has not yet been able to solve the increase in out-of-hours flights that take off or land at the terminal, a problem that generates saturation and that Volaris leads by accumulating 2,444 operations between January and May out of a total of 3,702.

The AICM published new regulations after the third extraordinary session of the Operations and Schedules Committee, in which it announced the tightening of the measures against late departure operations.

But on April 25, it was decided not to allow the takeoff of aircraft that were intended to operate at times other than those authorized by the airport.

Volaris, in his defense, explained to El Financiero that in May out-of-date operations represented 3.8 percent of the total flights offered at the capital’s airport.

as revealed REPORTUR.mx, in the first four-month period of the year, Aeroméxico complied with the use of slots almost in its entirety, having only one flight made after hours. On the other hand, Volaris is the airline with the most problems to regularize its operations, accumulating 68.6%, a total of 3,323 flights (Aeroméxico meets the slots in the AICM much more than Volaris and Viva Aerobus)

On the other hand, the strategy against air saturation at the AICM failed despite the reduction in operations, which went from 61 to 52 per hour when the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) requested the transfer of flights to the International Airport Felipe Angeles (AIFA).
