President Alberto Fernández inaugurated today, together with the Minister of Public Works, Gabriel Katopodis, the Punta Lara Coastal Park, in the Ensenada district, built on the banks of the Río de La Plata so that thousands of families from the south of the Buenos Aires suburbs can enjoy a modern and safe promenade, in addition to protecting the area from possible flooding.

“This is a unique river that all of us who were born here enjoy, we love it very much and it shows what Argentina is,” said the president accompanied by the mayor of Ensenada, Mario Secco, adding that “this is the Argentina that we want: where you invest, produce, work and enjoy”.

In addition, he pointed out that “we are inaugurating a thousand meters, we are missing two thousand and we are going to do it, we are not going to leave things halfway”, regarding the work that will imply an investment of 1,700 million pesos and is intended to consolidate the banks of the Río de La Plata in Ensenada.

“Those of us who are on this stage are children of democracy, soldiers of democracy, we take care of democracy,” stressed the President while stressing that “there is no contradiction between us, we all pull in the same direction.”

The Head of State concluded: “We are aiming for the future of Argentina, we are aiming to make Argentina more equal, more socially balanced, to create work and to bring joy to our people.”

The public space of 1,000 linear meters in length, which required an investment of $278 million, is a work that has been awaited for years by the municipalities of Ensenada, Quilmes, Avellaneda, Berisso and La Plata to achieve greater tourism development in the area, which each Every year it receives the visit of 500,000 Buenos Aires residents.

For his part, Minister Katopodis remarked that “this is why we came, to specify every day that our people live better” and assured: “It is important that politics be up to the effort made by our people.” In addition, he appreciated that public investment is for quality infrastructure and owned by neighbors: “It is everyone’s decision that this Argentina stands up hand in hand with work, unity, solidarity and empathy,” he said. .

The Park makes it possible to recover an important coastal strip degraded by fluvial erosion and river flooding due to the southeast, and transform it into a pedestrian walkway and bike lanes, in direct contact with the river, with free access to the community and services public spaces that allow full enjoyment of sports and outdoor activities.

During the event, Secco stated that “there is a people that needed this response” and that “this is how we dream of it: free, public and free. That is why this very popular Punta Lara fills us with pride. We give ourselves the luxury of having a coast to receive all those who want to come and enjoy it”.

Also participating in the activity were the Minister of Social Development, Victoria Tolosa Paz; the Minister of Territorial Development and Habitat, Santiago Maggiotti, and the mayor of Berisso, Fabián Gagliardi.
