In the last few hours, the alarm went off among the residents of La Plata for alleged hacking through WhatsApp. As they denounced, several people from La Plata were victims of virtual scam attempts through the messaging app and with the excuse of granting appointments for immunization.
In this sense, the frontists specified that they received a call that tried to give them a date and time to get vaccinated against the coronavirus, but it was all part of a hoax. “Hello, we contacted the Ministry of Health to inform you that you have the corresponding turn to apply the fourth dose of the coronavirus vaccine,” was the first thing they heard when attending.
Criminals, as explained, seek to deceive people and obtain a six-digit code by text message to activate a WhatsApp line from another device. Once they do, they are then free to impersonate their victims and scam their closest contacts.
In this context, the people of La Plata warned that the number from which the deception comes ends in 6527 and has a false photo of the app Look after. Finally, it is worth noting that a key to take into account is that the Government of the province of Buenos Aires no longer grants appointments for the vaccine, but rather it is released.
