The death of a child (2) in Gelsenkirchen shocked. When the trial against the educators begins at the Gelsenkirchen district court.
After the death of a two-year-old in a daycare center on Franz-Bielefeld-Strasse in Schalke in the summer of 2021, the Gelsenkirchen district court has now allowed the lawsuit against two educators on the charge of “negligent homicide”. This is reported by West German Broadcasting (WDR).

In August 2021, the news of the little boy’s death shook the entire city and region. During the afternoon nap, the two-year-old is said to have been lying on the lower part of a bunk bed and his head caught in the bed’s rods.
According to police reports, the two teachers found the boy lifeless on August 30, 2021 at around 1:45 p.m. after a nap in the facility, a so-called mini-daycare center. Alarmed rescue workers resuscitated the boy on the spot and then took him to a Gelsenkirchen hospital. But the child died a short time later. The autopsy that followed the investigation finally revealed that the boy suffocated.

At the end of April, the two 24 and 36-year-old educators will have to answer to the allegation of negligent homicide in court, according to WDR. The competent public prosecutor’s office in Essen therefore sees sufficient evidence that they have not fulfilled their duty of care. The women were in an adjoining room, a baby phone is said not to have been active, and there was probably no sleep watch either.
According to the city, four children and the two teachers were in the facility at the time of the accident. (AZ: 328 LS 48/22). The district court of Gelsenkirchen and the public prosecutor’s office in Essen could not be reached for the WAZ.
