The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), announced the death of a police officer in service, in a road accident in Algiers, this Thursday, January 5, 2023. The deceased police officer, Houari Abdelrahim, worked for the security of the municipality of Draria.
The accident was caused by a reckless driver, aged 29, he was arrested on the spot. In addition, the driver in question was brought before the judicial authorities and placed in pre-trial detention, for attempted murder with premeditation, non-compliance with the warning to stop, contempt of the police in the exercise of his functions
It should be noted that the funeral of the late police officer will take place tomorrow in Sidi Bel Abbès.

According to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), 9 people were killed and 367 others were injured in 324 road accidents that occurred in urban areas during the period from December 27, 2022 to the current January 2, said Thursday a review of the National Security services.
According to the same data, the human factor remains the main cause of these accidents (95%), in particular due to non-compliance with the highway code and the safety distance, speeding and lack of concentration at the wheel. , in addition to the condition of the vehicle.
The DGSN once again reiterates its appeal to users of public roads to respect the highway code, inviting them to be extra vigilant at the wheel.
