The course begins and with it the first big red carpet of the season, that of the MTV VMAs —the awards created by the music television channel par excellence to recognize the best video clips of the year—, which have become one of the most important recognitions in the industry.

Almost no current pop, rock, or reggaeton star will be present at the event, among other things, because many are candidates to win in one of the categories.

If you don’t want to miss anything, here we tell you the keys to this great gala.

When and where are they celebrated?

The gala will be held on Tuesday, September 12 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey for second consecutive Year.

In Spain everything will happen in the early hours of Tuesday to Wednesday starting at 2:00 in the morning.

Where can you see the gala?

The big Video Music Awards party will be broadcast, starting at 12:30 a.m. with a special pre-show, por the MTV Spain channel, available on the Movistar+, Orange TV or Vodafone platforms. It can also be seen on the Comedy Central, Paramount Network and Pluto TV channels.

The gala starts at 2:00 a.m. and is expected to last after 4:00 a.m.

Who are the presenters?

Just five days before the gala, the organization confirmed that Rapper Nicki Minaj will finally be the master of ceremonies for the awards. He already was in 2022, but on that occasion he shared the spotlight with LL Cool J and Jack Harlow.

When presenting the awards, Minaj will have the help of Bebe Rexha, Charli D’Amelio, Coco Jones, Dixie D’Amelio, Emily Ratajkowski, French Montana, GloRilla, Ice Spice, Jared Leto, Madelyn Cline, Rita Ora and Sabrina Carpenter.

Who will perform at the gala?

The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards party will be enlivened by around twenty performances, including those by MåneskinAnitta, Lil Wayne, Olivia Rodrigo, Renné Rap, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Kelsea Ballerini, NLE Choppa, The Warning, Tomorrow x Together, the k-pop band Stray Kids or Diddy, who will collect his award as Global Icon.

Special expectation arouses the return of Demi Lovato who has not been on a stage of such magnitude since 2020, when he reappeared after the overdose at the Grammys.

No less expected is the appearance of Karol G that comes to confirm that Latin music reigns in the world. In addition to being nominated in three categories, The Bichota will sing some of the songs from his album Tomorrow will be nice and there are those who already confirm that the large number of the Colombian will be TQG with Shakirataking advantage of the presence of both.

The great performance, that of Shakira

Shakira has made history by being the first Latin artist to receive the Video Vanguard Award for her career and maybe his performance at the gala will do it too.

The Colombian does not want to disappoint anyone and, as she has shared on social networks, she is desperate to find a way to summarize her entire career in one performance.
