A little historical context

Probably dating back toRoman times, the territory of Giaveno has been disputed for centuries by royal families and foreign peoples, but it is with the modern age that it begins to evolve. In fact, in XV century numerous industries are born, especially steel, textile and paper mills. After the Second World War, over the decades, most of these companies were forced to close and cease their production.

What to see in Giaveno

Today Giaveno is a tourist traction villagewhere it is possible to participate all year round events of various kinds and visit many places of interestespecially religious. Among the latter we have:

  • there Parish Church of San Lorenzobuilt between the XII and XII century;
  • there Parish of San Michele Arcangelobuilt, together with the bell tower, between the mid-1700s and mid-1800s;
  • the shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes to the Wildlocated in the hamlet of Giaveno (Selvaggio) and erected in 1926, in honor of Our Lady of Lourdes.

In fact, local producers and hobbyists are ready to offer their products as honey, cheeses, cured meats and handcrafted creations. In addition, an area will also be set up food where you can sit down to eat, or where you can consume many “walking” delicacies.
