New rumors indicate that Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 12 family is about to receive another advanced member, bringing weight news to the line. Supposedly identified as Redmi Note 12 Turbo, the device would feature an OLED screen, would mark the beginning of the giant’s transition from side digital readers to under-display models and could feature an unprecedented model of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 series processor.

The information arrives through the leaker Wisdom Pikachu (智慧皮卡丘), which suggests that we will see a new model of Redmi Note debut soon, equipped with a “Snapdragon 7 replacement”. There may be problems with the machine translation, but everything indicates that the informant is referring to one of the unannounced Snapdragon 7s leaked this week — the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 1, or the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2.
Without many known technical details, the solutions would make use of TSMC’s 4nm lithographs, replacing Samsung’s 4nm process employed in the original Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. The change would already be enough to boost the performance and, mainly, the energy efficiency of debuting platforms, as the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 proved, but it is possible that we will also see new cores, updated GPUs and higher operating frequencies.

Wisdom Pikachu also indicated that the cell phone in question would abandon the IPS LCD normally used by Redmi in the Note family in favor of an OLED display, but more importantly, it would use a digital reader under the display. The phone would symbolize the beginning of the brand’s transition from physical readers to under-screen biometrics, a change that would reach other models of the company in the course of 2023.
We should expect one more Redmi Note 12 device, #RedmiNote12Turbo. Unfortunately, I don’t know anything about that except the fact it’s powered by Qualcomm CPU and the device codename is “marble”.

Other recent rumors published by renowned leakers corroborate this data, such as Kacper Skrzypek and digital chat station, who had pointed to the existence of the “Redmi Note 12 Turbo”. The technical sheet matches the smartphone described by Wisdom Pikachuincluding Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 chipset, 6.67-inch Full HD+ OLED screen with 120 Hz refresh rate, triple 50 MP camera, up to 12 GB RAM, up to 512 GB storage and 5,500 mAh battery with fast charging from 67 W.
None of the rumors inform a release date for the new Redmi Note, but the new Snapdragon 7 are expected to be presented between March and April, so the device should also be made official in this period.
