Mexico City.- In Tsotsiles de Santiago El Pinar, in the Chiapas Highlands, an alleged car thief was burned alive early this Thursday, in the Limatik area, located on the outskirts of the Municipality.

Some inhabitants reported that the indigenous people took justice into their own hands because the Chiapas State Attorney General’s Office and the Police from the Secretariat for Citizen Security and Protection do nothing to arrest criminals in the area.

It was the Secretary of Peace and Conciliation, a Tzotzil authority, who announced, before the events, that they had arrested a person named Silviano and that they did not want any authority to intervene.

“We do not want any authority to enter because he is a person who is constantly engaged in robbery in the area.”

According to local reports, the young man allegedly belongs to a gang dedicated to car theft that calls itself “Queñaetik.”

Just a week ago, four men accused of theft of a vehicle, who were about to be lynched in Huixtán, in the Chiapas Highlands, were rescued by an armed group.
