After years of being involved in a corruption scandal, Alonso Ancira Elizondo ceased to be part of the board of directors of Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA).

In January of this year, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that, given the financial problems the company is facing, he would support the firm because of its importance in employment and the economy of the region, but that Ancira should leave the position so that New investors will enter.
