In the US and UK, Amazon Music Unlimited will cost more from February. In France, no change has yet been announced.

Amazon finally aligns with Apple on the price of certain subscriptions. As spotted by the site Billboard, the music streaming service driven by the e-commerce giant — Amazon Music Unlimited — costs a bit more now. Two countries are affected: the United States and the United Kingdom. For the time being, France is not concerned.

Increase of one euro for the basic offer in the USA and England

Two subscription formulas will change from February 21, 2023: the basic plan, which goes from 9.99 to 10.99 dollars in the USA (and from 9.99 to 10.99 pounds sterling across the Channel), and offer for students. This goes from 4.99 to 5.99 dollars (or 4.99 to 5.99 pounds sterling). This amount is to be paid each month.

A new page is available in the “Help and customer service” section, written in English. According to our findings, it does not exist today on the French version of the platform, suggesting that the French market is, for the time being, spared. On the homepage ofAmazon Music Unlimitedthe displayed price is still 9.99 euros per month.

Before Amazon, other audio streaming platforms have reworked their price list, with unfavorable orientations for Internet users’ finances: in October 2022, Apple increased the prices of several services, such as Apple Music, Apple TV+ and Apple One. In the case of the music service, three out of five offers have increased – one euro more in the case of monthly payments.

This is also the case of Deezer which, from 2021, also warned that it would add one euro to the classic paid offer and three euros for the family offer. Since then, prices have risen to 10.99 euros for the standard formula and 17.99 for the family option. This new grid has been in effect since January 2022. To make the pill go away, the service announced the addition of High Fidelity (Hi-Fi) sound everywhere.

Faced with the major maneuvers of its main rivals, Spotify is in a delicate position: its prices remain unchanged for the time being, which could be an argument for those who want to pay a little less. But he also has to deal with inflation and the cost of licenses to access music catalogs, which tends to increase. Here too, the days of the subscription at 9.99 euros per month are perhaps numbered.
