Mexico City.- Within hours of the elimination of the so-called Title 42, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador insisted on a “humanist” migration before his US counterpart, Joe Biden.

In a private conversation that lasted about an hour, López Obrador also reiterated his proposal to support the poorest peoples on the continent, to avoid migration out of necessity.

As announced yesterday, López Obrador dialogue with the President of the United States on migration, given the possibility that the number of migrants returned to Mexico will increase due to the end of Title 42.

Both Presidents also spoke of arms trafficking; racking and consumption of drugs, especially fentanyl; as well as cooperation for regional development.

“We talked for about an hour with President Biden,” said López Obrador through his social networks.

“We reaffirm our commitment to continue working together on issues such as migration with a humanist dimension, drug and arms trafficking and, above all, cooperation for the well-being of the poorest peoples of our continent.”

The Chief Executive, who during the talk with Biden was accompanied by the Secretary of Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrard, also stressed that Mexico and the United States are friends and good neighbors.
