Juarez City.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador promulgated a package of eight legal reforms this Monday, including the one known as #LeyBuylla, as well as various changes to the Mining Law.
The Executive enacted the reform of the Mining, National Water, General Ecological Balance and Environmental Protection and Prevention and Integral Waste Management laws, in terms of mining and water concessions.
The decree establishes that mining concessions may be granted for up to 80 years, while water concessions will have a maximum duration of 30 years.
The new legislation indicates that the granting of concessions may include two or more minerals or substances and that 7 percent of the consideration will be for the towns and communities affected by the mining activity.
