On the occasion of the commemoration of Labor Day this may 1 2023, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) led a meeting with officials from the National Palace. At the event, each of the speakers sent a message regarding the event.

After having been absent from public events due to his third infection with the disease of COVID-19, the Mexican president was the third to speak on the podium. In his speech, he recalled the Chicago martyrs, who gave rise to the commemoration of the date, as well as the “infamous” working conditions during the historical period known as Porfiriato.

Before dozens of representatives of various unions and sectors of workers in the country who met in the Treasury Room of the government building, the person in charge of inaugurating the interventions was Patrick Flores Sandovalsecretary of social communication of the Confederation of Workers of Mexico (CTM).

Similarly, the table was completed by Luisa Maria Mayor Luján, head of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STyPS); Rodolfo Gonzalez Guzmangeneral secretary of the Regional Mexican Workers Confederation (CROM); Napoleon Gomez Urrutiapresident of the International Confederation of Workers (CIT); Isaiah Gonzalez CuevasSecretary General of the Revolutionary Confederation of Workers and Farmers (CROC).

In addition, the panel was completed by Francisco Hernandez Juarezpresident of the National Union of Workers (UNT) and leader of the telephone operators union; Carlos Martinez Velazquez, general director of Infonavit; as well as Zoe Robledogeneral director of the IMSS.
