Villahermosa tabasco.- For President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the damage caused by the alleged plagiarism of Minister Yasmín Esquivel’s Bachelor’s thesis is “infinitely” less than that caused by Guillermo Sheridan, who exhibited the content of the university work.
“I’d rather be wrong about the Minister than agree with people like Sheridan,” he said.
In a conference from Villahermosa, the federal President accepted that he is not objective, since he considers that the UNAM researcher is part of a group that has done a lot of damage to Mexico.
The Tabasco native asserted that he would rather be wrong than agree with the architect of the investigation that exposed the plagiarism of the Minister, close to the 4T and who seeks to preside over the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN).
“The competent authority has to resolve it, in this case I am not completely objective because I consider that any error, anomaly, committed by Minister Yasmín when she was a student, when she presented her Bachelor’s thesis, is infinitely less than the damage they have caused to Mexico Krauze and the man making the complaint, Sheridan, those have done a lot of damage to Mexico.”
“That is why I say, I am not objective, because I maintain that this group has validated the looting or was a participant, validating the looting that was committed in Mexico in the Neo-Porfirian period. So, maybe I was wrong about the Minister, but I prefer that to being right with these organic intellectual pimps of the conservative regime”.
When questioned about the request of academics and legislators for Esquivel to resign and thus avoid SCJN wear and for an act of intellectual honesty, the Chief Executive reversed: “he who is free of sin should cast the first stone.”
“Those who are asking for the Minister to be punished have committed major crimes, I am not justifying the Minister, but Krauze, and it is not because of what they received from public money to legitimize the looting, but because of their usual dishonest attitude, Sheridan, Krauze, Aguilar Camín, all of them.”
López Obrador said that he will wait for the competent authority to resolve the Minister’s case and reiterated that there is a campaign against his movement “day and night.”
Yesterday, the Faculty of Higher Studies (FES) Aragón announced that it will begin a detailed analysis of the thesis with which Minister Yasmín Esquivel Mossa obtained her Law Degree. In a statement, the house of studies located to the north of Nezahualcóyotl, Edomex, asserted that it will act in accordance with the regulations.
Guillermo Sheridan published this Wednesday images with contents of the Minister’s Thesis that are identical to those presented a year earlier, in July 1986, by Edgar Ulises Báez Gutiérrez, at the UNAM Law School.
Hours after its publication, Yasmín Esquivel’s thesis adviser, Martha Rodríguez Ortiz, assured through a letter released by the Minister that the thesis is original and that the article is a lie.
