Four days after confirming that he was infected with Covid-19, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador publicly reappeared through a video posted on YouTube, where he reported on his health condition and admitted that he did have a “transient fainting” on last Sunday, due to low blood pressure.

The federal president said that the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus “was complicated” by the tour he had made last weekend in the southeast of the country and acknowledged that during his visit to Mérida, Yucatán, he had a kind of “gazy”, however, he insisted that at no time did he lose consciousness, as had been rumored.

As the president of Mexico, I have the responsibility to inform you about my state of health, I already did, but in any case, since there has been speculation, it is important to tell you that I am fine,” López Obrador said.

The president explained that during a meeting with military engineers and other officials he had “a kind of ‘vaguido’ (sic), speaking colloquially”, because he was treated by doctors, however, he refused to be transferred to a hospital.

“They gave me a liter of IV, they raised my pressure and fortunately it didn’t get any worse, there was no affectation in the heart, in the brain at all and they already transferred me to Mexico City. I came conscious and that’s how we got here ” , said López Obrador while standing walking through the corridors of the National Palace, near his office.

On the afternoon of last Sunday, April 23, President López Obrador announced through his social networks that he had tested positive for Covid-19, for which he had to suspend a tour he was carrying out in the southeast of the country.
