Amtrak launches new bus service connecting Providence with New Bedford and Worcester

Amtrak announced Thursday the launch of a new bus service that will connect Providence with New Bedford and Worcester.

Customers will be able to connect to other Amtrak trains at the Providence, Rhode Island station that leads to destinations including Boston, New Haven and New York, a spokesman told WJAR.

“Amtrak’s latest connecting bus service will bring a new link from New Bedford and close an existing gap in Worcester with convenient, scheduled rail and bus connections to Providence and our national network,” said Dennis, executive vice president of strategy and planning. from Amtrak.

Officials said the schedules are optimized for connections on weekdays and weekends. The connecting bus will run mornings, afternoons and nights, Amtrak said.

The route from Providence to New Bedford will have an intermediate stop in Fall River.
