Lima.- An 11-month-old baby died this Monday in Lima, after being allegedly raped by her father, Juan Carlos Peralta Chanca, who is in custody, as confirmed by the Peruvian National Police (PNP) to EFE.
The baby died at the Hospital Bravo Chico de El Agustino in Lima, in the east of the Peruvian capital, as a result of the rape and injuries caused.
The 14-year-old mother of the baby had reported to the PNP that she had also been raped by Peralta Chanca.
The 18-year-old man was arrested in flagrante delicto, within 24 hours of the commission of the crime, according to the PNP.
During the police intervention, the authorities seized a gray sweatshirt (sports jacket) and a towel with biological remains (blood).
The alleged murderer was transferred to the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Directorate to continue with the corresponding proceedings.
There he was questioned and, according to a video released by the Police to the media, he denied the facts and said that the baby’s mother was his partner.
For its part, the El Agustino Prosecutor for Violence Against Women requested this Tuesday judicial arrest in flagrante Peralta Chanca, “investigated for the alleged crimes of femicide and rape of a minor with subsequent death, to the detriment of AVPS (11 months)” .
And the director of the Directorate of Special Protection of the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations, Alberto Arenas, stated in a local media that said portfolio “provides emotional support and legal guidance to family members.”
The feminist organization Manuela Ramos stressed that the baby’s mother shows signs of violence committed by the subject and that she would have given birth as a result of rape.
“We demand justice for both, this kind of case should not happen. No to impunity! Peru, a country of rapists where we are born and die as a result of rape. Machismo kills,” he said on Twitter.
