The Latin American region needs greater communication about the digital ecosystem and that is the reason why the Center for Research and Development in Information and Communication Technologies (cintel) of Colombia has decided to carry out the International ICT Congress Andicom for the first time in Mexico.

Andicom México 2023, which will take place from November 21 to 23 at Expo Santa Fe, is an academic congress that seeks to bring together the representatives of the digital ecosystem in Latin Americadecision makers of the main technology companies and officials of public and private organizations.

“This is an event of the digital ecosystem where technology is obviously discussed, where trends are observed, but links and dialogues are also generated, that is, the most important thing, that business relationship, where policies and regulations are also discussed”, said Mario Castano, technical director of Cintel in an interview.

Cintel is an autonomous and non-profit innovation and productivity center, created in Colombia at the beginning of the 90s of the last century, whose objective is to promote the development of the South American country in terms of information and communication technologies (TIC).

“In general, there are quite a few centers of this type in Colombia. In Mexico they do not have a similar organization. You have some centers but they depend on the State or there are centers attached to universities. In our case, we are an entity that seeks the incorporation of technology in the government, in private companies and in society”, said Castano.

According to the executive, Cintel has followed the technological evolution of Colombia and Latin America since the 1990s in terms of telecommunications, digital convergence, information technologies, to date, with the creation of a complex digital environment. An example of this support was how the organization promoted, together with the telecommunications company Claro, the development of an ecosystem of applications for mobile systems, during the first decade of the 21st century.

“In 2008-2009, we realized that in Colombia there was no mobile application development ecosystem. So, in this case, we started working with Claro, promoting the entire ecosystem so that mobile applications could be developed: from the moment they were incorporated into the plans of the universities; that applications start to be developed by startups, until those applications are recognized and awarded, ”he said.

It is in this tenor that Cintel seeks to carry out Andicom Mexico 2023in which entities such as the Mexican Academy of Digital and Technological Law (AMD Tech), the Mexican Association of Information Technologies (Amiti), the National Chamber of the Electronic Industry, Telecommunications and Information Technology (Canieti), the Colombian-Mexican Chamber of Commerce and Integration, the Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFT) and the Organization of American States (OAS), among other.
