The Minister of the Interior, Vincent Romeroreported that three policemen are detained in Macusani (Fist), accused of raping a young woman after leaving a nightclub. The victim is being treated at the area hospital.
“After having fun, one of them invited her to get into his vehicle and when they passed the police station, which at the time was set on fire by the protesters, (a non-commissioned officer) took her to this place and insulted her (in the company of his accomplices)”, stated the head of the mininter at a press conference.
The victim reported this sexual assault and, after the mayor of Macusani learned, the commissioner acted and arrested the three non-commissioned officers. The prosecutor arrived to initiate disciplinary, administrative and criminal investigations.
“The aggrieved person is being treated in the hospital and the necessary coordination is being carried out so that he is given all possible attention. The Ministries of the Interior and Women are working together to attend to this victim. We totally repudiate these unfortunate events, we have to be drastic and forceful in these bad actions of these police officers; and we hope that the investigations are conducted in the best way, in a transparent manner”, added Romero.
The Minister of the Interior added that, although he supports the members of the Peruvian National Police when they do good deeds, on this occasion “I express my strong condemnation that tarnishes the actions of the PNP.”
“We are working to strengthen this disciplinary regime of the PNP. From the Ministry of the Interior we will support all the victims that are caused by violence, especially by people who act against women, ”he said.
The petty officer, accused of the violation, was temporarily suspended from service, as required by law. “He does not have the right to pay a bonus nor does he hold any position. We cannot allow these actions to stain the National Police”. His accomplices would take the same path.

The agent maintained that the non-commissioned officers are being detained to take the corresponding exams: “It is being verified that all actions on the disciplinary issue are carried out transparently and under the corresponding law.”
The Minister for Women and Vulnerable Populations, Nancy Tolentinorejected and condemned this crime committed against a young woman.
“I call on the Judiciary so that it can issue the most drastic sanctions for these events. I salute and acknowledge the rapid action of the PNP. We are not free that in our institutions these cases can happen, but we must act quickly, ”he declared.
The owner of the MIMP He stated that all the services in his portfolio were activated in Fist to offer psychological, social and legal attention so that the aggrieved person recovers quickly.
“The victim is never guilty of any sexual assault. We will also offer their relatives psychological support to be a support network. I would like to call on society, as a whole, to reject all forms of violence and to act immediately,” she said.
Tolentino He expressed that this Monday, April 17, the High-Level Multisectoral Commission (CMAN) will meet to make decisions and involve all Peruvians on this issue.
The attack on the young woman occurred a few days after the death of the nurse, victim of a group rape in the same department (Fist). The woman, who was in a coma and who was accused of a leg, leaves two children aged 4 and 6, and a baby of just 8 months.
