Because of a fire in Bochum-Wattenscheid on Friday evening, residents of a residential building had to flee into the open. 50 emergency services were on site.

On a balcony in Schubertweg in the district of Westenfeld flames erupted on Friday night. When the fire brigade arrived shortly after 6 p.m., the fire had already spread to the associated apartment on the fourth floor. According to the fire service report, the resident had already left the apartment and was being looked after by the rescue service. Also the others Residents of the home fled outside.

A task force fought the fire with respiratory protection, a nozzle and a turntable ladder. The fire was brought under control quickly, but according to the fire brigade, the subsequent extinguishing work was complex because parts of the wooden floor had to be removed.

Apartment fire: Police determine the cause

A total of 50 fire and rescue services were on duty for around 80 minutes. They then handed the scene over to the police, who are now investigating the cause of the fire. (red)
