A recent leak has begun to warn players about news that could come in the next season of Apex Legendsand it is that apparently the following (or one of the following seasons), could introduce a change that has already left the players divided.
According to a pro gamer who apparently let something slip before any official announcement of Respawn Entertainment, a future season will supposedly have players spawn with a P2020 instead of dropping into a map unarmed. Doing so would give players a fighting chance at launch if they can’t find a suitable weapon right away, but some have also argued that this would subvert Apex’s battle royale formula.
TSM ImperialHal spontaneously spoke about the way Apex will supposedly change in an upcoming season during one of his recent streams, and at one point in the stream, he said “we’ll be spawning a P20 next season” and asked if everyone was ready for that.
The casual comment immediately caught the attention of people who discussed on social media what the implementation of this feature in Apex would look like and how it would affect gameplay. Those within the Competitive Apex subreddit made points saying it would be beneficial to start with a P2020 so you have something to fall back on if RNG isn’t in your favor and someone else finds a weapon before you do.
Others pointed out that it’s already very possible to land on a person as a group of three and hit them before they can respond, even if that person is able to find a weapon first.
Outside of the subreddit, other conversations featured possible ways on how this feature could be added. Some suggested that it would be a better idea to arm players with a P2020 after they’ve respawned via a Respawn Beacon, as long as the start of the match stays the same.
Regardless of which side of the discussion players are on, many seemed to favor the idea of removing the P2020 from loot if it is indeed going to be added as a starting weapon.
