Apparent Orange Line fire causes delays in Boston

An apparent fire on the Orange Line is causing long delays in Boston on Wednesday.

Although delays of 15 minutes could still occur, the repairs to the track have already been carried out.

Previously, images shared on social media showed what appeared to be a track fire near a station with smoke filling the air at the station.

The MBTA Twitter account responded by noting that the agency was “investigating an issue with the third rail at the station.”

Separately, the agency said southbound Orange Line trains were being suspended between North Station and Back Bay due to the third rail problem at the Tufts Medical Center station. The Green Line was available for alternative service.
