Apple has quietly increased the price of HomePod mini and iMac M1. Parallel to the presentation of the new HomePod 2 on Wednesday, the manufacturer raised the prices for the smaller mini version by around 10 percent in several European countries: In Germany, the HomePod mini from Apple now costs just under 110 euros instead of just under 100 euros before.

The price increase does not seem to have had a real impact on retail, where the HomePod mini can sometimes be found for around 90 euros. In the past few weeks there have also been offers for around 80 euros, especially for the colorful minis in yellow and orange.

Apple offers the HomePod 2 in the USA at a price of just under $300 (excluding sales tax) cheaper than its predecessor. In Germany, the second HomePod generation costs 350 euros and thus as much as the HomePod 1 when it went on sale in 2018, Apple later lowered the price of the predecessor to just under 330 euros.

In addition, Apple has increased the price of the 24″ iMac with M1 chip, which has been on the market for almost two years. It remains unclear why there has been no iMac with an M2 processor so far. The basic model of the iMac M1 now costs 1550 euros, which is 100 euros more than at the beginning of the week.

Apple has not changed the surcharges for additional RAM and storage space, so doubling the RAM to 16 GB as well as a 512 GB SSD still costs 230 euros extra. The higher-priced iMac model, which comes with additional connections, now costs 110 euros more and thus just under 1780 euros.

While the manufacturer has so far left its prices in the USA practically unchanged despite inflation, Apple’s euro prices have risen significantly since the introduction of the iPhone 14 – and not only for new products: older iPad model series and accessories also increased significantly overnight in Germany last autumn more expensive.
