The Argentine national team, already qualified for the Under 17 world championship, lost last night the undefeated title it held in the South American championship of the category, losing to the local team, Ecuador, by 1-0, for the fourth and penultimate date of the final hexagonal of the contest that it already has to the four Conmebol teams that will face this ecumenical event.

Kendry Páez, barely 15 years old and already negotiated by Independiente del Valle to English Chelsea (he will only be able to leave at 18), was the author of the only goal at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado stadium, in Quito, six minutes after the match began played under heavy rain and the look of the newcomer member of the coaching staff of the Argentine senior team, Pablo Aimar.

In this way, the Ecuadorians lead the positions with 10 units and a goal difference in favor with respect to Brazil, which has the same number of points. Then there is Argentina with 7 and behind Venezuela with 6, all of them already qualified for the World Cup that will be played in November with a venue to be defined after FIFA stripped Peru of that possibility for infrastructure reasons.

The last two places correspond to the already eliminated Paraguay (1 point) and Chile (0). The fifth and last date will take place on Sunday with the matches Argentina-Brazil, Paraguay-Chile and Venezuela-Ecuador, all starting at 6:00 p.m.

This Thursday the Venezuelan national team, led by Argentine Ricardo Valiño, qualified for the World Cup after defeating Paraguay 2-0 with goals from David Martínez and Maiken González, and will return to that competition after 10 years.

Previously, Brazil, with a brace from Rayan (the first from a penalty) and the third from Ricardo Mathías Da Silva, beat Chile 3-0 on this fourth round of the South American Championship in Ecuador.
