Argentina’s Lucía Cosoleto, in the female Sup Surf category; and the Brazilian Chloé Calmon in longboard; The gold medals were hung this Friday in the Pan American Surfing Championship, which takes place on Santa Catalina beach, in the south of the Panamanian province of Veraguas.

Cosoleto, who arrived as the current champion of the title, did not disappoint on the waves. A score of 5.50 (the best in the final) and 5.37 earned him to revalidate the title won last year in San Juan de Puerto Rico.

“I never knew that I had the gold medal assured, until the end I thought that I needed a better wave to be able to fight for the title,” Cosoleto, current world champion of the Sup Surf modality and who won the quota for the Games, told EFE. Pan American Santiago 2023.

I dedicate “this victory to my people from Argentina and to my grandmother, whose birthday is today,” said Cosoleto smiling.

The silver medal in the Sup Surf category, with a final score of 8.8, went to the Peruvian Vania Torres.

Torres, who also won silver in this modality in the last Pan American Games in Lima 2018, had his best performance in the last wave with a 4.57.

The bronze, with a score of 8.77, went to the Brazilian Adeline Adisaka.

Half an hour later, the Brazilian Chloé Calmon scored gold in the longboard category, with a final record of 11.

It was enough for Calmon with her first two waves and she obtained a 5.0 and a 6.0 (the best mark of the final competition), to be the division champion.

The silver medal in longboarding went to the Canadian Olivia Stokes, with a final score of 8.4 and who was the surfer to beat in the competition.

The podium was completed by Roan Díaz from Costa Rica.

The Pan American Surfing will continue this Saturday and will end on Sunday with the awarding of medals.
