Los Angeles (USA), May 6 (EFE).- Argentine Cristian Espinoza scored a brace this Saturday for the San Jose Earthquakes, who defeated Los Angeles FC (LAFC) 2-1, thus losing their first game this season in MLS.

Espinoza, who this week was voted the best player in the MLS in April, opened the scoring in the 8th minute, culminating a good collective play by the Earthquakes inside the box.

Denis Bouanga equalized in the 30th minute for the current MLS champion, taking advantage of a rebound after a long shot from Mateusz Bogusz.

Finally, Espinoza scored a penalty to make it 2-1 in minute 81 to give the Earthquakes victory against the team led by the Mexican Carlos Vela.

With this double, Espinoza is the top scorer in MLS at the moment with 8 goals, the same as the aforementioned Bouanga (LAFC) and Jordan Morris (Seattle Sounders).

This Californian rivalry duel was played in a special way at Levi’s Stadium, the venue where the San Francisco 49ers usually play their NFL games.
