Actually, football professionals should be role models for young people because of their wide reach. Children orientate themselves on the well-paid footballers, strive for them and often imitate them.

A professional from the French overseas department of Martinique has now gone too far and attracted attention with his exemplary actions. Jean-Manuel Nedra became loud “Le Parisien“Caught at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris with 100 kilos of cocaine in his suitcase.

The club also adds: “Let’s be stronger than ever and together continue our work of education through sport to fight this plague and protect young people and warn them about the risks, consequences and drug abuse.”

Nedra is said to have been on a private trip when he was arrested. Nedra normally plays in midfield at L’Aiglon and was called up for the Martinique national team for the first time in 2012. He then ran a further 19 times for the team. His appearances at the Gold Cup – the continental tournament in North, Central America and the Caribbean – are likely to be a highlight.

Martinique was a participant at the time, Nedra was used in all three games of the group stage and even got to show his skills against the American national team. Nevertheless, the island state was already over in the group phase.

Nedra was last called up to the national team in March 2019. Since then, the coaches of his country have renounced him. If the suspicion of drug smuggling is confirmed, he will probably not get another chance.
