On Wednesday evening, the star shared a candid video where she talks about the troubles she has experienced with the skin disease Alopecia.

– Alopecia and hair loss are quite common, but many people feel embarrassed to talk about these problems. Any type of hair loss can affect your self-esteem, especially if you feel like you’re the only one going through it, says Tisdale.

– That’s why I want to talk openly about it – because it’s nothing to be ashamed of.

Further in the video, she talks about the various reasons why more people may experience the skin disease.

– Sometimes it is linked to hormones, other times to heredity. For me, it is linked to stress, says the actor.

The 37-year-old has struggled with the skin disease for over ten years, and says that it started in his early 20s.

– In my early 20s, I noticed a spot without hair right at my hairline. I didn’t understand what it was and asked my hairdresser, who said it was Alopecia, says Tisdale.

She then went to a dermatologist, who diagnosed her with the skin disease.

Changed the diet

In the video, Tisdale says that she had to change her diet to lower her stress level.

– Eating healthy food with a focus on intestinal health helps me. I loved the way I felt.

– Hair loss is one of the body’s ways of signaling stress overload – and a sign of prioritizing self-help, she explains in the video.
