It was love at first sight when Hermi Kainz from Wolfsberg in Carinthia and Fritz Leissing, a born and bred fool, met in August 1962 while swimming in New America in Bregenz.

This love has accompanied the couple for 61 years and is worth celebrating properly. Before going to a good lunch with the invited guests on Saturday, the jubilarians will attend a mass at 10 a.m. in the Merbod chapel.

The life of the happy couple was shaped by work, the upbringing of the children Jürgen, Uwe, Joachim and Yvonne and the well-being of the spouse. After years of hard work, Hermi and Fritz are now enjoying their retirement, enjoy going for walks together, mastering everyday life together and devoting themselves to their hobbies. “We also had to give up some activities that we had grown fond of. Fritz was the head of the baby lift for a long time and was very happy to take care of it. In general, we went skiing a lot and loved it, you could always find us at the Brüggele lift in winter, which unfortunately has now been dismantled and we have given up skiing in the meantime,” report the jubilarians.

A hobby has accompanied Fritz for 72 years. He is an enthusiastic model railway enthusiast and proudly shows visitors his self-designed and space-filling superstructures in the former shop and in the attic. From the smallest gauge railway to a wide variety of gauges, the trains run through towns, cities and mountains that the jubilee built together with his son Uwe – a play paradise in which adults and young people alike like to linger. Hermi is not so much into trains and prefers to use her tablet, which her children gave her and which she is now very good at. She surfs the World Wide Web with enthusiasm, finds out about this and that and, as a good cook, is also interested in the many recipes. Her homemade elderberry syrup is a poem that even the enthusiastic must drinker Fritz praises.

The jubilarians have a good relationship with their children, children-in-law and six grandchildren. Hermi is in close contact with her relatives in Carinthia. One time she is visited, the other time she takes the motorail train to her old homeland. She also loves it when her godchildren surprise her with Carinthian music. “Looking back, we can say that we have achieved a lot in life. We ran the general store, cleaned up the house and raised the kids to be responsible adults. Hermi managed the household and the business, was a passionate choral singer in the Bildstein Choir and the Carinthian double sextet for 21 years. Fritz was in a leading position in the Bregenz rescue service for many years, worked for the Red Cross, was enthusiastic about the Leissing Trio and cultivated house music with the family. We were never really bored,” the jubilarians conclude their life story.

In satisfactory health, Hermi and Fritz are looking forward to many more happy years, true to the motto “The love between two people lives from the beautiful moments. But it grows through the difficult times that both of them overcome together” (Rainer Haak).
