A company called Meccti is being investigated for its recruitment process for the airline Kuwait Airways as it asked several flight attendant candidates to pose in their underwear.

It is the Spanish authorities that carry out the investigation.

The Secretary of Employment of Spain, Joaquín Pérez Rey, reported that on November 5, the company began a selection process for cabin crew at the Meliá Barajas Madrid hotel, near the airport. The call is still on the company’s social networks.

From the beginning of the tests, according to Bianca, María and Mariana, three women who responded to the call, the offensive comments began: “We don’t like your smile.” “You have the roller coaster body.” “If we ask you to eat more, would you eat more?” “You need to lose seven kilos.” “They were staring at me front and back and taking notes, we looked like animals in a zoo.”

“He disqualified someone who spoke seven languages for having a mini scar on his eyebrow and told her that he didn’t care about his seven languages, that they don’t take people with scars,” a girl told elDiario.es.

When the recruiter had ruled out part of the applicants, because of their bodies, moles or freckles on their faces, having a scar, wearing glasses or because of their weight, the rest were invited to enter a room one by one.

There, in the presence of a woman, they had to remain in their underwear for the recruiter to examine their bodies, in order to verify if they had marks or tattoos, which is illegal in Spain. They also made them open their mouths to check their teeth.

One of the applicants said that the recruiter asked her to unbutton her shirt. He looked at another of hers from top to bottom, she crouched down to look at her from the ankles and go up from her, she saw a tattoo that she had on one ankle and asked her if she was going to remove it. “I told him yes,” she told the same newspaper.

The company could be sanctioned for serious infractions stipulated in the Law on Infractions and Sanctions in the Social Order, which provides for a fine of up to 225 thousand euros.

On his Instagram profile it was noted that Meccti is a company with offices in Romania, Slovenia, Tunisia and Turkey, although its country of origin is not known. He indicated that it was born in 1997 as Middle East Cabin Crew Training International and that it collaborates with the airlines Kuwait Airways, Qatar Airways, Etihad, Saudi Arabian Airlines or Spice Jet.
