Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed series has just taken a hit and will have to find a showrunner. Seen from here it does not smell very good.

Announced for the first time in 2020, then put back on the carpet last September during a big Ubisoft Forward, the series Assassin’s Creed, already marketed as “epic” and “scalable”, has just lost one of its core members. Ubisoft and Netflix are recruiting!

The Assassin’s Creed series has problems

It is the showrunner Jeb Stuart who announces the bad news to us by declaring that he has left his post. The reason for such a turmoil would be due to different creative visions that obviously couldn’t stick together. Asked about the subject, the man replies that it is not very serious and that it is time for him to look elsewhere. A bit icy.

I think it’s because of an exchange between the people in charge of Los Angeles and those of London who, unfortunately, inherited my vision of the project without being able to develop theirs. So I think it’s normal. Either way, I know it will be great. The people at Ubisoft are fantastic. It’s an amazing franchise. It was the perfect time to go their separate ways.

Jeb Stuart has therefore taken off while Ubisoft and Netflix now find themselves without a showrunner. It doesn’t smell very good, but nothing is lost yet. Series Assassin’s Creed is still in its infancy and both companies can still bounce back although it is unclear how long the project has been in production. But for now, no one seems to have been chosen to take over, although we should certainly have news in the coming weeks.

The Assassin’s Creed license will have the right to a brand new game this year with Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The game will take place in Baghdad before the events of Valhalla and should also mark a real homecoming for the franchise.
Besides that, several other big projects are expected like Assassin’s Creed Jade, Hexe or even Red which will take place in Japan.
