Asterix and Obelix, Mission Cleopatra: where the film was shot

This Monday evening, TF1 will broadcast Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra at 9:10 p.m. The film, signed Alain Chabat, contains several secrets, in particular around the different filming locations.

On February 1, 2023, the new component Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Empire, signed Guillaume Canet, will be released in cinemas. The filming of‘Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra did not take place without adventures. And for good reason, the team endured two sandstorms, one of which lasted eight hours during the preparation of an outdoor scene with 2,000 extras, thus interrupting the plans for two days. But it is not for nothing that the film reveals incredible landscapes, since the teams have installed their equipment in Morocco, but also in Malta for the scenes called “aquatic”. For the rest, the scenes were filmed in a studio in Épinay, France.

The plot of the film

Adapted from the comic Asterix and Cleopatra by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, published in 1963, Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra made more than one vibrate. The story begins with the great project of Cleopatra (Monica Bellucci). The Queen of Egypt has challenged Julius Caesar (Alain Chabat) to build a palace in the middle of the desert in three months so that he publicly concedes that the Egyptian people are the greatest of all peoples. For this, Cleopatra will call on Numérobis (Jamel Debbouze). If the architect succeeds in time, he will be covered in gold. If he fails, he will be thrown to the crocodiles. To put the odds on his side, Numérobis will ask a helping hand from his friend Panoramix who will come with his faithful acolytes Asterix and Obelix. Jealous of Numérobis, Amonbofis (Gérard Damon), Cleopatra’s official architect, will do anything to harm her. But it was without counting on the determination of the Gauls.
