At least 55 dead after bloody fighting between Libyan militias in Tripoli

At least 55 people died and 146 were injured in the combats registered since Monday in tripoli between two influential armed groups, reported Wednesday the Emergency Medicine Center (CMU).

“The Arab league calls for the immediate cessation of violence,” the pan-Arab body said in a statement, in which it expressed its “deep concern over the armed clashes that resulted in civilian casualties.”

The note urged “all Libyan authorities to take measures to restore security”, and stressed “the importance of accelerate the unification of state institutions (Libyan) and complete the transition process with the holding of elections as soon as possible”.
