At least seven dead by a double Russian bombardment in the Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk

The death toll from the Russian bombardment this Monday against a residential building in the Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk, in the eastern Donetsk region, it already amounts to 7, in addition to 67 wounded, according to a new balance provided by the Ukrainian Minister of the Interior, Ihor Klymenko.

Among the injured, according to the minister, are two children, 29 police officers and seven emergency services workers.

Donestk Region Governor Pavlo Kyrylenko said the city center was shelled at least twice in less than an hour (between 9:00 p.m. and 9:50 p.m. local time, 6:00 p.m. and 6:50 p.m. GMT) on the night of August 7, damaging several buildings, private residences, a hotel, restaurants, shops, and administration buildings.

Rescue work resumed in the early hours of the morning as, according to the interior minister, they could not continue overnight for fear of new Russian bombardments.

The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, denounced that Russia “trying to stop Donetsk turned into ruins and calcined stones. “Two missiles. An impact on a dwelling house. Unfortunately there are victims », he stated on Telegram.

“It is necessary to stop Russian terror. All those who fight for the freedom of Ukraine save human lives. Everyone in the world who helps Ukraine will defeat the terrorists together with us. Russia will answer for everything it has done in this horrible war,” he added.

According to regional authorities, the Russians have already killed a total of 1,645 Donestk residents and have wounded 3,939 since the invasion began, although the figure does not include casualties from Russian-occupied towns.
