Atlanta mall shooting leaves four injured

ATLANTA. Four people, including the alleged attacker, were injured in a shooting that occurred in the food court of Peachtree Center, an underground shopping center in Atlanta. The city’s mayor, Andre Dickens, reported the incident through the social network X on Tuesday.

According to Atlanta police, all of the shooting victims were conscious and awake. The attacker is believed to be among the wounded, although it has not yet been clarified who wounded him or the causes that led to the shooting.

The Peachtree Center, located just blocks from several hotels frequented by convention-goers, is an office complex with an underground shopping area. Following the incident, multiple streets in the area were cordoned off while police officers and firefighters responded to the emergency.

Elizabeth Ingram, an employee at Chick-fil-A in Peachtree Center, described the moment she heard the gunshots. “We relaxed for a minute and then we heard more gunshots,” she said. “So we came right back.” Ingram observed several people being carried away on stretchers. “You never know what can happen,” she said. “It just happened suddenly. It was so scary that I thought I would never come home to my son, and that scared me. “My heart was beating very fast.”

Many people stood at a nearby intersection, wondering what had happened. Several streets in the perimeter were cordoned off by police while officers and firefighters arrived at the area.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident to determine the motives and circumstances of the shooting.
