No matter how much we like Atomic Heart, we don’t want to play through it in one go. But at the latest when we start the game for the second time, it becomes annoying: Every game start begins with an agonizingly long video in which the manufacturers display their logos and all kinds of information. It takes 39 boring seconds. Every single time. (The Angry German Kid would have destroyed half the living room by then.) But don’t worry, you can bypass this “intro” with a little trick and start the game directly in the main menu. Here we show you how to give Atomic Heart a fast launch on PC that really deserves the name.

If you want more info on the game itself, check out our comprehensive Atomic Heart review here. Unfortunately, we stumbled across a bug during the PS5 test that smashed a saved game – here you can find all the information about it. Atomic Heart (buy now / €53.99 ) elicited mixed reactions from many testers. Some celebrate the game as a worthy Bioshock successor and are enthusiastic about the crazy design, others are disappointed by blunders in the gameplay or the story.

Atomic Heart: Quick Start – This is how you turn off the annoying logos at the beginning

  1. First you have to open the game directory. By default, the game is under Steam\steamapps\common\Atomic Heart iinstalled. (Tip: You can also right-click the game in your Steam Library, select Properties, go to the Local Files tab, and click Browse. This will take you to the desired folder).
  2. Now go to this subdirectory: Steam\steamapps\common\Atomic Heart\AtomicHeart\Content\Movies
  3. Move the file there Launch_FHD_60FPS_PC_Steam.mp4 to another folder somewhere on your hard drive. Keep the file as a backup copy in case you ever need it (for whatever reason).
  4. Back to the Atomic Heart Movies directory: create a new text file here. You don’t need to open it, creating it is enough. Renames the completely empty text file to Launch_FHD_60FPS_PC_Steam.mp4 around. Windows will warn you that changing the filename extension may render the file unusable. You can ignore this notice, just click on “Yes” and change it anyway.
  5. Start the game as usual via Steam. You should now be taken straight to the main menu, saving you a good 40 seconds each time. You’re welcome and have fun gambling!

There may also be an easier method, namely the Launch Options via Steam. Here you can often achieve the same effect with an addition like -skipintro. However, we were unsuccessful in our test. By the time the corresponding command is known (if it exists), you have hopefully found a usable replacement with our method.
