A secret Russian ship convoy was at the Nord Stream crime scene days before the explosions. Now it is certain: A special ship involved in underwater missions was photographed there by the Danish Navy.

The traces of the Nord Stream attack point more and more clearly in the direction of Moscow: As t-online reported exclusively in March, days before the explosions, several Russian ships headed for the scene of the crime – without sending position data, under cover of darkness. According to the research, three of the ships had special equipment that would have enabled the sabotage operation on the pipelines. At the same time, sabotage units were mobilized for alleged maneuvers. Denmark confirmed the research weeks later – but is now adding another important detail.

Photos also show the “SS-750”

Just a few days ago, a report in the Danish daily “Information” revealed that the Danish Navy had taken a total of 112 photos of Russian ships in the area of the later crime scene northeast of Bornholm on September 22, 2022. The Ministry of Defense there has acknowledged this in an official reply to a request for information. However, the images would have to remain secret in order to protect the intelligence work. Now the newspaper follows suit.

Leak at Nord Stream 1: Greenpeace assessed the pipeline itself. (What: t-online)

According to the Danish Ministry of Defence, 26 of the 112 photos show the most important ship for the possible sabotage operation: the “SS-750”, which has a mini-submarine on board. t-online has made it public that the ship had headed for the crime scene together with the two tugboats “Aleksandr Frolov” and “SB-123”, which have cranes. Three other ships secured the convoy militarily. The report was based on information from security circles and publicly available data.

In an interview with t-online, the Danish military analyst Johannes Riber described the trail as “the most plausible explanation so far for what happened to the Nord Stream pipeline”. Now, in the reporting of the Danish newspaper “Information”, other experts agree with this assessment.

Joakim von Braun, who worked for the Swedish secret service, said: “This indicates that much of the information that has come to light earlier is correct.” The ships were assembled precisely for this type of operation. “It is very likely that these ships were involved in the sabotage operation.” Von Braun is considered the Russian Navy’s expert on underwater warfare and has written textbooks on it.

At the end of September, a total of four leaks in the two pipelines Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 from Russia to Germany were discovered after explosions near Bornholm. The investigators in Germany, Denmark and Sweden assume sabotage. Reports from “Zeit” and “ARD” had made it known that German investigators were investigating a sailing yacht that played a role in the attacks. However, it cannot be ruled out that false tracks were intended to be laid with it.

So far, the investigating authorities have not commented on the Russian ships. At the request of t-online, the armed forces of the Baltic Sea countries did not want to comment on the ship movements. A state actor is still considered the most likely variant as the perpetrator.
