A 30-year-old amusement park attendant was caught red-handed trying to to introduce cannabis into the prison of the Bouzaâroura district in the commune of Al-Bouni in Annaba.

The deputy public prosecutor of the wilaya’s legal council requested a sentence of five years’ imprisonment for the accused. It was the guards as well as the security agents of the penitentiary administration who informed the authorities about the attempted smuggling of drugs into the prison.

The operation was going to take place with the help of certain detainees and the drugs seized were to be used for their personal consumption and for resale to prisoners. The prison administration worked in coordination with the security services to follow the movements of the suspect, who used to visit his imprisoned brother.
The suspect denied the charges against him, saying he was the victim ofa plot hatched by his brother’s friends.
A bill to combat the use of narcotics and psychotropic substances
The Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Abdul Rashid Tabbi, presented a bill aimed at combating the use of narcotics and psychotropic substances in Algeria.
