On April 27, 50 members of the Vorarlberg50+ Sulz-Röthis-Viktorsberg association visited the facilities of the agricultural schools in Hohenems.

Mrs. Ehrne received us and led us through the spacious complex.
We visited various learning areas such as the sewing room, alpine dairy, butcher’s shop, cider shop, locksmith’s shop, blacksmith’s shop, carpentry shop, as well as the laboratory and the outdoor areas with livestock and beekeeping and plant cultivation.
The school was founded 50 years ago and has undergone many changes since then. The three-year course ends with the skilled worker certificate. After five years, the now 450 students can also take their Matura.
There is a wide range of leisure activities. In addition, courses are held for the hunting or fishing examination. The school describes itself as School of life with and for nature and not only deals with agriculture, but also with the topics of “resource management” and “renewable energy”. Organic farming is practiced on a total of 32 hectares, which means that the school is largely self-sufficient. The students offer their own products for sale in the farm shop. At the end of the tour, we were invited to the common room for coffee, cake and bread from our own production.
Thank you Chairwoman Reinelde Gut and her team for this exciting insight into a state-of-the-art educational institution.
