The former Secretary General of the General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA), Abdelmadjid Sidi Said, was sentenced to 8 years in prison by the Court of Algiers. And confirmed the judgment confiscating all real estate and bank accounts seized in connection with this case.

The same court sentenced Djamil Sidi Said to a 1-year prison term, and Hanafi Sidi Said to a 1-year suspended prison sentence.

In addition, the former Director General (DG) of Hussein Dey’s Real Estate Promotion and Management Office (OPGI), Rehaimia Mohamed, and the chairman of the board of directors of the Petroleum Workers’ Mutual Fund, Abderrazak Hasbellaoui, received a suspended prison sentence.

On the other hand, the former CEO of Mobilis, Choudar Ahmed was acquitted.

The court of Sidi M’Hamed sentenced Sidi Said to 10 years in prison

The former boss of the General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA), Abdelmadjid Sidi Saïd, who was arrested on Wednesday May 11, 2022. Then placed under a warrant of committal the next day, Thursday May 12, 2022.

On November 14, the economic and financial penal division of the Sidi M’hamed court imposed a 10-year prison sentence on Abdelmadjid Sidi Saïd, the former SG of the UGTA, and a fine of 8 million dinars.

The court had also rendered a judgment against his son, Djamil, by pronouncing a 3-year prison sentence against him. But also against his second son, Hanafi, by sentencing him to 5 years in prison and a fine of 8 million dinars each.

In addition, the court pronounced a 12-year prison sentence against Abdelmadjid Sidi Said’s third son, Ramine, with an international arrest warrant against him and the confiscation of all movable and immovable property and financial assets.
