Authorities expand search for three missing fishermen in Venezuela

Redacción.- The Venezuelan authorities continue this Sunday with the search for three fishermen who were reported missing last Monday, after which a search operation began that has been expanding to the west of the country and in the Caribbean Sea.

Through Twitter, the Coast Guard Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) indicated that the search for the boat “La Llovizna” – in which the fishermen left from the coast of Choroní, in the state of Aragua (central-north )- is maintained today «by sea and from the air».

A military aircraft “carried out patrols in the Gulf of Venezuela (about 370 kilometers away from the place of departure) looking for said vessel,” the command reported on the social network, where it published photographs of the operation taken from the air.

According to the information published by the authorities, last Sunday communications were established with all the boats that navigate in the search area to warn about the disappearance of the boat.

Since then, the operation has been expanded with the incorporation of a surveillance ship, a coast guard patrol boat and the establishment of communication with the search and rescue system of Curaçao, one of the Dutch islands in the Caribbean.

The National Institute of Aquatic Spaces (INEA) informed on Tuesday about the search procedure for the three crew members who belong to the Council of Fishermen, Fishermen, Fish Farmers and Fish Farmers (Conppa) of Choroní.

On May 13, the authorities located three other fishermen reported missing for five days “safe and sound” on the coast of Aragua, after the boat in which they were sailing capsized on the coast of the state of La Guaira (north). .
