Media Maratón de Brooklyn

Thousands of runners participate this Saturday in the Half Marathon at RBC Brooklyn 2024.

The course begins at the Brooklyn Museum next to Prospect Park and progresses to the finish line on the Coney Island boardwalk.

The 13-mile route involves the closure of several streets in that county.

Department of Transportation officials remind drivers to review traffic and parking rules.

The following streets will be closed to traffic and parking for the race, according to New York Road Runners, which organizes the marathon:

Eastern Parkway, from Grand Army Plaza to Bedford Avenue

No parking: (eastbound) Thursday, May 16, 6:00 am to Saturday, May 18, 11:30 am

No Parking: (North Service Road) Friday, May 17, 6 a.m. – Saturday, May 18, 11:30 a.m.

Street Closure: Saturday, May 18 from 12 am – 12:30 pm

President Street and Union Street, from Classon Avenue to Franklin Avenue.

No parking: Friday, May 17, 6 am – Saturday, May 18, 11:30 am

Street closure: Saturday, May 18 from 12 am to 12:30 pm

Washington Avenue, from Eastern Parkway to Empire Boulevard

No parking: Friday, May 17, 6 am – Saturday, May 18, 11:30 am

West Brighton Avenue, from Ocean Parkway to West 2nd Street

West 16th Street, from Surf Avenue to Boardwalk

No parking: Friday, May 17, 12 a.m. – Saturday, May 18, 4 p.m.

Street closure: Saturday, May 18 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.

The following changes to metro and bus service will also come into effect:

The MTA reported that trains on lines 2, 3 and 4 will avoid the Eastern Parkway-Brooklyn Museum station in both directions from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday. Service on lines 2 and 3 will resume at the station at 9 a.m.

F trains will not run between Kings Highway and Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue and D trains will not run between Bay 50th Street and Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue during that time, according to the MTA.

“Several local and express bus routes in the city will be affected by street closures throughout the day,” the MTA said, adding that riders should visit new.mta.info and check the “Current Service Status.” for updates.

From New York Road Runners they indicated that the free shuttle buses will connect with the D trains at Bay 50th Street and the F trains at Kings Highway.
