Authorities seek help to locate missing girl

MIAMI.– The Special Victims Unit of the Department of Police of the City of Miami is asking the community for their contribution in locating the minor Jade A. Sotelo, 12 years old, who was reported as disappeared since July 20.

The teenager, who is 5.4 feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds, was last seen in the Little Havana area, one of the most central and busiest spots in Miami.

Anyone with knowledge of the case is welcome to contact Detective K. Brito or anyone on duty in the City of Miami Police Department’s Special Victims Unit.

There is more than one telephone number available for assistance (305-603-6300 and 305-579-6111), as well as an email address ([email protected]). Likewise, Florida officials have the possibility of issuing an Amber Alert in situations of missing children.

The importance of sharing any information is stressed because the physical and psychological integrity of the disappeared children is in danger. Recently, in Florida, 13 child victims of a network of sexual abuse and human trafficking were rescued.

In an interview with Diario Las Américas, state attorney Katherine Fernández-Rundle highlighted that, according to statistics, Florida is the third state in the United States with the highest volume of victims of human trafficking.

“Unfortunately Miami is number one in Florida. So we have a big problem, which places us in a vulnerable situation with our young people and children who are in our schools, streets, parks and everywhere.
